Discipleship is one of those words that many people hear and brush off for a number of reasons.

It could be that they feel ill-equipped from a practical standpoint on how to “disciple” someone.

It could be that they don’t feel worthy or far enough along in their own faith journey.

It could be that they’ve never grown to really understand the essential and non-optional requirement of discipleship as a believer.

Or, it could be that simply no one has taught them about it at all.

If you resonate with any of the above, you’re not alone.

According to Barna's 2023 research, only 5% of pastors say discipleship is "going very well" in their churches, while about 77% say their efforts at discipleship range from "fair" to "poor." The research suggests most believers are struggling to become mature followers of Christ.

Key findings include:

  • Only about 2 in 10 Christians are actively engaged in discipleship activities

  • Less than 1 in 4 Christians can articulate how their faith informs their daily decisions

  • Around 60% of churchgoers can't define what discipleship means

  • Only about 3 in 10 Christians report having an intentional plan for their spiritual growth

With that said, we aim to demystify the topic of discipleship and create simple resources that help everyday believers engage in this essential practice.

This will benefit you, as the everyday believer, and it will also support your church as a network of faithful believers begin living out more of the great commission inside your community.

Jesus didn’t send us on a wild goose chase. This was an intentional strategy of The King to reach and shape the world. He didn’t give you a command that you’re unable to follow through on. He’s with you, His Spirit is guiding you, and His Word is equipping you to obey it. And lastly, He didn’t make this optional - it was a commissioning to all those who call on Him as King and Lord.

You’re Called & You’re Needed.

What’s Next?

Alright, so maybe you’re feeling a stir after reading the above. If so, that’s great - don’t ignore that, that’s The Holy Spirit reminding you that you’re needed, He’s with you, and you’re called and commanded.

If you are curious to get engaged and learn more, the first step would be (if you’re a man) joining us for one of our ‘Becoming Resilient’ Fireside nights.

What are these fire nights?

These are a chance for men to gather together, meet others from across the city, discuss important topics pertaining to the health of our soul, our family, and our community, and get to know one another better.

  1. These fires are a place for men to be themselves - whether you’re a leader in the city or a newer believer, you can come as you are and leave your religious and professional credentials and experience at the door.

  2. Fires are a space for men to share stories, struggles, dreams, and questions. A place for us to experience God together through the ancient practice of storytelling. We are all students, learning together what becoming wholehearted, mature men of The King really means.

  3. Fires are a space for authentic masculinity. Vulnerability, courage, strength, and love are held in the highest regard. Each man has permission to show up exactly as he is—nothing to hide and nothing to prove.

  4. What is shared at a Fire stays at a Fire. Fires are a space for us to practice and play at being sons of God in authentic community. The spirit of the Fires is to learn, grow, and practice, becoming sons together. In order to foster that environment, every man’s story is safe among these men and around these flames.

If this sounds like something you’d like to explore and gather more information about, drop us a line below and we’ll reach out directly to share more and provide details about the next fire night. We look forward to meeting you!
